Guillermo Caballa

Guillermo Caballa, a talented photographer based in Vigo, Spain, loves to take beautiful photos in the forests of Galicia together with his lovely dog Malu.

Caballa’s photos, which he shoots with an Olympus E-M5, caught our eye not just for their beauty, but for their distinctively introspective atmosphere as well. Most of his photos feature lonely forests wreathed in thick fog and a pensive man going for a walk, often together with the ever-loyal Malu. Their subdued but picturesque mood seems to calm and comfort the weary soul.

Weerapong Chaipuck

Asia is a beautiful and mysterious continent with breathtaking landscapes and deep-rooted traditions. This is exactly how photographer Weerapong Chaipuck shows it in his photos. Looking at his work, it is hard to believe that he took up photography only after an early retirement from the medical profession.
His main interest is travel and landscape photography, through which he shows us the beauty of our world. “To create a project, you must do homework about the place; which season and period of time are optimal for taking photographs, what is the vantage point, which lens should be used, and what your post production process is going to look like,” – says Chaipuck. And that homework has paid off with well-executed and stunningly atmospheric shots.
Although he uses a lot of Photoshop and other production techniques to create his star trail photos, he says that the atmospheric qualities of his shots are thanks to knowing the right time of day to shoot. “When shooting landscapes, it is 100% natural, and pinpointing the exact time of day to shoot, whether that be 30 minutes before the sun begins to rise or 30 minutes before sunset, is a constant challenge. But that’s also what makes it all worth it,” he says.

Andrew Lever

“I was driving along the beach highway when i noticed the bulls sunbathing on the empty beach. I initially thought i was seeing things, but no it really was sunbathing cows !! I had to park my car a fair distance away and that meant a long walk along the beach in 35 degree heat. It did not matter because i had to get the shot ! When i got closer to them i was careful not to spook them so i crawled on my stomach on the hot sand to get a good picture of them. Mission Accomplished ! It was worth the effort !” Photo and caption by Andrew Lever

Julie Fletcher

“I cannot describe the eery feeling I had when I walked in on this scene. I followed a massive storm front several 100 kilometers hoping to capture something special but this blew my mind. The surreal milky green water is a natural phenomenon caused by electomagnetic activity from the lightning hitting the waters surface. There was no rain where I was and not much wind either but in the distance the sky was charged and angry subjecting its wrath over the graveyard of dead trees in this normally very dry lake bed. I was able to capture a series of unique images this being one of the best.” Photo and caption by Julie Fletcher
